Two dead as Brigades clash with Israeli undercover units near Gaza City

Gaza – Ma'an – 01.10.07. Israeli forces have allowed a Palestinian medical team to recover the bodies of two Palestinians who were killed in the eastern district of Gaza City on Sunday, Palestinian medical sources said on Monday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the bodies of Ahmad Al-Ammuri, 23, and Bilal Abu Shakyan, 20, from Jabalia had been found.

The military wing of the Hamas movement, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced the death of two of their members during clashes with Israeli forces in eastern Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip.

Since midnight on Sunday Israeli undercover units have been advancing into eastern Jabalia and Gaza City. Israeli helicopters have been constantly patrolling the area and armed clashes have erupted between the Palestinian fighters and Israeli troops.

The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, An- Nasser Salah Addin Brigades claimed that they conducted fierce clashes with Israeli undercover units at 4 o'clock on Monday morning.

Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades also said they clashed with Israeli undercover units in eastern Jabalia. The Brigades claimed they fired explosive devices at the Israeli units.

The Al-Qassam Brigades claimed they saw Israeli helicopters evacuating injured soldiers.

The Israeli authorities admitted on Monday morning that one soldier had been wounded.
